Background of Nasizo Mndende

 

Nasizo was born in Xhorha under Mbhashe Municipality on the 14th April 1995. She is the third child out of five siblings raised by her single mother Nomzi Mndende and his grandfather. She did her matric in Elliotdale Tech and later graduated from the University of Fort Hare with Honours degree in Social Work.  In 2015 she founded Bomvane Youth Foundation with the help of other young people; they provide mentorship and guidance to young learners who need help and also aiming on tackling social issues faced by young people in our communities.

 

Although she did Social work at school, Nasizo’s first dream was to be in the media specifically doing Journalism but her mother couldn’t allow her to follow that path as she was still young. While in East London doing her degree, she started entering competitions as she loved modelling and believed that It can lead her to a career that she has always  dreamed of. In 2014 she became a finalist on Miss Amathole Heritage where she learnt more about her heritage, roots and finding your own identity. In 2015 she attended Indoni Miss Cultural SA as she loves cultural education and engaging with other young people.

 

In 2018 she represented Eastern Cape on the National Community Radio Week Ambassadorship Programme where she was a finalist and then was crown as Miss Personality 2018 as well as the 1st Runner up on the Competition. She used her title empowering young girls from rural and disadvantaged communities, being the voice in fighting social issues that are faced by our rural communities and making a mark that your background does not determine your future. Later in 2018 she was selected as a finalist on Miss Heritage South Africa and since her journey has been breath taking as her moves inspire alot of people from young to old people as she is relevant to everyone and has since gained so much support as people relate to her. She then became part of Miss Grace SA and this young lady proved more that her calling is to use the beauty pageantry world to make more social change, In the beginning of August in Cape Town she was then crowned as Miss Grace Eastern Cape Queen Regional Queen and her journey is still continuing.

 

She is a young leader who is also part of Activate SA as she aims on empowering other young people. She is also a business woman and founded Umzi Wakwantu Enterprise which focuses on events management, Arts & Culture mentorship and with her experience her goal is to turn everything she touches into gold. She is now part of many community development programmes and working with other organisations with the aim of bringing change that is needed in our communities. She is a leader of Intombi ze Nciyo as she believes in abstinence as a way of fighting teenage pregnancy and HIV & Aids spread working with Bomvane Youth Foundation.

 

A found of Qhakaza Nolali brand that seeks to educate local people to empower and inspire people from ezilalini (villages) to chase their dreams and know its valid. She was also nominated in Top 100 of 2019 by SADC. Nasizo has love for young people and she is always willing to engage given any platform for the benefit of our communities.
